Why Global? Why Sports?

Sports intersect with the lives of countless people across the world. Most of the world’s population are actively engaged in sports and have family members who enjoy sporting events. They are fans who enjoy them as occasional entertainment. Sports popularity is growing across the globe and it is becoming a common language spoken in many places. Since 2001 Global Youth Baseball Federation, Inc. utilized the popularity of baseball to share Good News across the world. With the help of talented and godly pros, college coaches and players, many personal testimonies of faith were heard across the fields in Cuba, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Germany, Brazil, Kosovo, Nicaragua, China, Venezuela, Mexico, Hungary, and Poland.

Global Baseball has professional staff who can make a difference in countries that need help. Our ministry through baseball has transitioned into a larger sports ministry. We have changed our name from Global Youth Baseball Federation, Inc. to Global Sports Federation, Inc to reflect our growth. Doors for basketball, softball, volleyball, soccer, and rugby are opening for us worldwide.

Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of all nations.” So why not do it through sports?” Sports opens many doors and becomes the common ground for building relationships. Our staff members have a passion to make Jesus known worldwide. They receive high-level professional training and in turn train others. They have an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of many young people. They take their uniforms, gear, and skills, and become the feet upon the mountains and on the fields, that bring not just sports but Good News to the world.

I could have missed a major blessing had I not said “yes” when invited to join a mission trip to Cuba with Global Sports. If you love sharing the gospel, a Bible study with children, painting, nailing, handing out toys and tools or playing baseball... go ahead, expand your horizons and be a blessing to the great folks of Cuba.

My first time in Cuba was AWSOME! I experienced how God is working in the country and how the culture is so different from ours. I learned a great deal and had the privilege to speak at a house church! It was my first experience in street ministry too. Global Sports is a GREAT organization!

...a life changing experience I will never forget. I saw the power of prayer and God’s work being done first hand. I was moved by the friendliness of the Cuban people, their strong faith in God and their perseverance. I am returning to Cuba in August and I would like to get involved in more missionary work. (Cuba, Nov 2018).

I went to bring hope to a broken people. What I saw was a move of God in Cuba, tangible and powerful. The lives of many on our team were transformed, including my own. The words are not enough to express. Who was more blessed, our group or the Cubans? Certainly, both!
